Other Products

As I am an independent financial adviser, I also provide a range of other services and products.

In order to provide you with a mortgage, I have to understand your circumstances and that means gaining a picture of your current situation and finances as well as your future intentions. That same process applies to other insurances too. So, as well as providing advice on your mortgage, I can also respond in other areas. You don’t have to do any work, other than giving me a few pieces of information and a little of your time.
As a result, you can feel far more comfortable with your new mortgage, knowing that you have also addressed the other important areas of cover. But let me state two things:

  1. I understand that stuff like life assurance is not particularly interesting – it doesn’t provide quite the same excitement as buying a new property so I will try to make it as painless as possible.
  2. You are still the customer. I can only make the recommendations but you are the one paying the premium. I won’t push you into taking out cover that you don’t want.

Once again, I will not bombard you with too much information here. The point of my service is to recommend the products that are suitable for you, having understood your circumstances and your preferences. But a brief word or two…

Life Assurance

There was a time when most lenders made it a condition of the mortgage that you held life assurance cover. They rarely do so now, the only conditional insurance being building insurance.

But most people like to know that that, should the worst happen, the mortgage can be paid off and your family can go on living in their home.

Cover does not have to be expensive. Of course, it does depend on your age and a few other factors, e.g. term of cover, your state of health and whether you smoke. But, generally speaking, if you can afford the mortgage you can usually afford the life cover. I will discuss the various forms of life assurance available, whether you should have decreasing or level cover, whether your policy should be written in trust and so on. And, because I am independent, I will compare providers before making my recommendations.

Critical Illness Cover

As well as providing for your mortgage to be paid off in the event of your death, it is also possible to insure so that it is paid off in the event of you suffering a critical illness.

Accident, Sickness and Unemployment Cover

Alternatively called Mortgage Payment Protection Cover, you can arrange for your mortgage payments to be paid for a period of time should you be unable to work as a result of accident, sickness or unemployment.

Income Protection

This is not specific to a mortgage but provides longer term cover against sickness or accident. In the event that you are unable to work, the plan can pay an on-going income for your chosen period and this can be right up until retirement.

Any of the above plans may be appropriate and I will make suitable recommendations when arranging your mortgage.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
